Welschriesling (Italijanski rizling)

Welshriesling or riesling italico, it's neither riesling nor Italian, but a popular white variety in our region.

In neighboring Croatia they call it Graševina. Over here in Serbia, they dusted off the name of Grašac, which we kind of like, but true to our guiding principle of keeping thing simple, for now we are sticking to Italijanski rizling.

We currently have:

- a small quantity of the 2019 vintage bottles. The wine is dry, more-than-decent, goes well with local and other fish, pasta and as per local tradition, into a wine spritzer on hot summer days. In the words of one of our customers, "just as I like it ... I can drink this every day".  The price is a bargain at 400 RSD per bottle (0.75l, vol. alc. 11%).

- a fresh lot of the 2021 vintage, made using the sur lie process. We tried it out for kicks but we found out that it is a habit that sticks, to borrow from the late Pete Shelley. In translation for the uninitiated, it was an experiment that has yielded very nice results. It's a great one. Dry, nice body, lovely aromas. And double the price! Yet at 800 RSD, it's well worth grabbing a carton or two of the cca. 1000 bottles while you can!

And as for the habit that sticks, this year we're at it again. If it works as well as it did the last year, you'll be the first to know.

* It would also be a shame to ditch a stash of existing labels :)
